I believe that the general purpose of fiction is to provide a road map to our own individual achievement. In life and in fiction, whatever goals we choose, there will likely be challenges and opposition along the way. We become heroes only by overcoming this adversity.
Our real life advantage over fiction is that we are not only the main characters. We are also the writers of that story. While we don’t always have control over outside events, we do get to choose how we react to whatever life throws at us. In the end, our happiness is not determined by our success or failure, but by our commitment to the values that shape our dreams.
I believe that every single one of us was born a creative genius, born to live the life of a hero. Through the values of peace, hope, possibility and community, my purpose is to help kids along on their unique and empowering adventures.
